2、Assembly and Component Manufacturing Issues

When replacing the carrier roller or the oil seal, improper installation of the floating oil seal, twisted or misaligned O-ring will lead to oil leakage after a short period of operation.

Poor CNC machining accuracy of the roller body and end cover, with burrs and deformation, makes the metal rings unable to be pressed and fitted tightly. For the carrier roller of excavator PC1250, its production process is carried out in a harsh environment.

Excessive wear clearance of the bearing: when the bearing raceway and rollers are worn, the roller body has large radial play, which causes the seal ring to be dislocated by impact, the sealing surface to separate and oil to leak. A carrier roller with a damaged bearing is usually accompanied by wheel shaking and abnormal noise.

3、Excessive Internal Oil Pressure Bursting the Oil Seal (a factor often overlooked)

Overfilling with oil: If the gear oil in the carrier roller is overfilled, the oil will expand when heated during operation, raising the internal pressure. The thermal expansion and cold contraction effect will directly push the oil seal open and cause oil to spray out.

Blocked vent hole: Some carrier rollers are equipped with small pressure relief vent holes. When these holes are clogged by mud, sand, or deformed roller body of PC1250 carrier roller, the internal pressure cannot be released, which will damage the oil seal under the built-up pressure.

4、External Damage

Stones hit the end cover of the carrier roller, and sharp objects violently strike the housing of the excavator undercarriage parts, causing slight deformation that squeezes and damages the floating oil seal assembly.

5、Oil-related IssuesUsing unqualified gear oil, oil products with inferior grade specifications, or oil that gets diluted at high temperature will cause the rubber sealing ring to swell and corrode, accelerating the failure of the seal.

When water, sediment and dust enter the oil, oil sludge will be formed, which will abrade the sealing ring.
